What You Will Do

We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our construction team for our 175 3rd Street project in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The project is a new construction building comprised of 1.2 million square feet, approximately 1,100 rental units, amenities, retail spaces and a waterfront park. This role requires full-time presence onsite, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.  

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Assists with daily on-site construction activities and coordination
  • Supports supervision of subcontractors and on-site labor
  • Helps ensure work is performed in accordance with contract documents and schedules 
  • Maintains site cleanliness, organization and logistics
  • Maintains consistent field execution aligned with developer standards
  • Assists with daily and weekly work planning
  • Tracks manpower, work progress and material deliveries
  • Identifies potential conflicts or delays and reports to field leadership 

 

Safety & Risk Management

  • Assists in enforcing safety programs in compliance with OSHA, NYC DOB, and company policies
  • Conducts daily safety checks and participates in toolbox talks
  • Ensures subcontractors follow Site Safety Plans and site-specific requirements
  • Reports incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions
  • Promotes a proactive safety culture across the project 

 

Quality Control & Long-term Asset Focus

  • Assists with inspections, testing and punch list work
  • Observes workmanship and flags quality issues to field leadership
  • Helps track and verify corrective work
  • Supports efforts to reduce rework and warranty issues 

 

Regulatory & Compliance 

  • Assists with NYC DOB, FDNY, DEP, and third-party inspections
  • Maintains required site logs, safety documentation and photo records
  • Ensures permits and postings are maintained on-site 

Who Are You

  • 1-5  years of construction management experience
  • Exposure to NYC construction projects preferred
  • Basic knowledge of construction means and methods
  • OSHA 30 required
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and follow-through
  • Detail-oriented and organized • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
